Claims Supervisor - Home Office


General Position Summary:

Responsible for the supervision of a unit of claims physical damage appraisers and independent adjusting files (supervision of people and files) involved in either specialized lines or all lines of claims. 

  

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1.  Responsible for the investigation and settlement of all claims assigned to unit.

2.  Responsible for the selection and training of unit personnel and the initiation of personnel action such as salary adjustments, performance ratings, promotions, etc.

3.  Advises adjustments on involved cases and extends settlement authority to adjusters as necessary after reviewing case files.

4.  Establishes claim reserves and recommendations to supervisor on cases exceed personal authority.

5.  Maintains current knowledge and understanding of all policy provisions and state laws governing claims-handling procedures.

6.  Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

1.  Skills described in job description.

2.  Satisfactory work history and excellent attendance record.

Education:

College degree (BS/BA) preferred.  Minimum three years claims experience or supervisory experience in related field.
